I don't like to read a series without beginning with the first book, but there was something about this story that pulled me in. I just finished reading a book with a doctor as one of the MCs and one of the MCs was a victim of abuse. While that story was okay, it lacked the finesse of the more accomplished writer I've always found Nicole Dennis to be.This drama was well put together. There were poignant moments throughout. The heartache of loss of a family and potentially a career. The sadness that Alzheimer's and cancer wreaks on a family is devastating. Gorgeous Mustangs, frolicking goals, the big sky country of Montana, and the laid back practice of a country doctor, especially after the stress of a busy city emergency room are in the picture painted by Ms Dennis. You can practically see the picturesque panorama of lush green grass and majestic mountains.
If you enjoy stories about sexy cowboys, the sultry dulcet tones of a whiskey voiced band member, the love of a created family, second chances at love, besting crazy ex's, and beautiful spirited Mustangs you will likely want to read this book. If you like to read humorous passages and about overcoming adversity, as well as sweet and tender moments this book is for you. After reading this story I will be going back to read the first book in this series. And I anticipate a third book hopefully with two characters mentioned several times in this story.

This book was sweet but also painful for what Evan had to go through before he meets Josh.
Josh is a fiddle player for his band and has some troubles at home with his family.
Evan ran from a Ex who hurt him to his uncles so he could be in a safe and better place.
The moment these two lock eyes on one another you could really feel the connection between them.
You get your angst, plus so much sweet because Evan really deserves to have someone like Josh love him.
All together I liked this book!

Even professionals, such as Dr. Evan Sampson, can be victims of domestic violence. When Evan has had enough from his partner, a surgeon with an ego that has him out of control, Evan makes plans to run away to Montana and an uncle who has a country practice. As he makes house calls he meets a group of cowboys who spend part of their year touring as a band. Among them is Josh, who has an injured arm.
There are many problems that the band members must face upon returning home. Josh has his badly damaged wrist, Sage’s mother is sinking into the brain stealing outcome of Alzheimer’s as well as other injuries and illnesses. Josh and Evan are attracted to each other but Evan is still recovering from the disaster that was his last relationship and unwilling to trust himself to fall in love with another man.
Nicole Dennis writes beautiful, sentimental love stories, and Walk Me Through the Haze is one of her best. I loved watching Evan and Josh turn to each other, especially when Josh’s injury becomes worse. Will Josh ever play again? And what about George, Evan’s former partner? There are many subplots to work through in this book, the second in the Walk Me series. I love these stories and look forward to the next one. Nicole Dennis remains an autobuy author for me, no matter which series she decides to write next.
What had the potential to be a very good story was ruined by sloppy writing, jumping the shark moments and underdeveloped characters. I already purchased the third in the series so am hoping the author took a little more time with the next one.
